Blessed Is She

I’ve mentioned it before, but I wanted to make sure you all know about my newest project. Blessed Is She is a daily devotional website for women.

Right into your inbox, every day, you’ll receive a link to the readings from daily Mass, plus a short reflection on one of the readings. Reflections are written by a crack team of the awesomest Catholic women on the interwebs, including Jenna Guizar (the brains behind the whole thing), Blythe Fike (who is MADE of awesome), Bonnie Engstrom (so you know Fulton Sheen will approve), Lauren Donohue Gulde (so you know it’s gonna look good), Audrey Assad (yes, THAT Audrey Assad), and Mandi Richards (we got her out of RETIREMENT to do this). Plus me. Plus a bunch more. It’s an amazing group. Check out the talent here.
And TODAY is the very first day. You haven’t missed a single one.
Here’s how it works: You click over to BlessedIsShe.net. Click on the “Sign up here” link in the big purple box. Give us your email address (which will be used only to send you your daily devotions). That’s it.
If you are so moved, you may also make a donation on the right sidebar to help us with our monthly operating costs.
Here’s a sneak peek at today’s devotion:
“When I came to you…”
I am here. We are here. We are here to dive into the Word together, as a community of believers, as a community of mothers, as a community of wives, single women, daughters, sisters, sinners, thieves.
“I came to you in weakness and fear and much trembling,”
With fear and much trembling, we launch Blessed Is She today. In weakness and fear, I give you all of me in this project, in this daily devotions to the Word of God. We give you ourselves and nothing less to be vulnerable and to grow together. Every single day.
“so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.”
It is not us, the writers or the preachers or the ministers standing at the pulpit. It is the power of God that we rest our faith on.
Open up your bible, sister. Read along with us. We come to you as women who needed the gentle push to open up the Word and let it enter into our lives daily. And we want you to come along for the ride.

I hope you’ll join us on this grand adventure!
And enjoy your holiday.
Here’s a little quote from Servant of God Dorothy Day, to help us remember what we’re commemorating today:
“What we would like to do is change the world–make it a little simpler for people to feed, clothe, and shelter themselves as God intended them to do. And, by fighting for better conditions, by crying out unceasingly for the rights of the workers, the poor, of the destitute–the rights of the worthy and the unworthy poor, in other words–we can, to a certain extent, change the world; we can work for the oasis, the little cell of joy and peace in a harried world. We can throw our pebble in the pond and be confident that its ever widening circle will reach around the world. We repeat, there is nothing we can do but love, and, dear God, please enlarge our hearts to love each other, to love our neighbor, to love our enemy as our friend.”

I probably way too excited for this but there you go. I've been getting the daily readings through BiS and have, wonder of wonders, actually been reading them and even (this is the really amazing part) reading them with my kids and husband when he is home. I love the layout, the font (I have a thing for font, I'm weird), etc. It's just great!

Thanks to you and everyone putting this on!

Yay! I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who needs an email to make her read the Bible!

Lovely! I've been looking for a way to "pick up the bible" more often than I do (which is not nearly often enough). Just subscribed and am looking forward to seeing the daily readings and insights, thank you!

so excited. So needed in my life right now. Thanks so much for putting in all the hard work. Can't wait to read my email.

Thanks Mary. We're all praying for you and Courtney here in LA.

Is this going to make my Magnificat obsolete? I read the next days readings the night before and truthfully don't meditate on them but go to sleep especially if the Tierney kids have been visiting. Well look at your Blessed is She.

Sorry my earlier comment went in twice…itchy fingers. I read the sample and even though I am not a young mom with many kids I really enjoyed it so I have signed up to receive the emails. Dad also made a generous donation to the project. I encourage those of you who also enjoy reading it to consider making a donation to the project, God bless and good luck.

Hi! I’m Kendra.

For twenty years now, I’ve been using food, prayer, and conversation based around the liturgical calendar to share the lives of the saints and the beautiful truths and traditions of our Catholic faith. My own ten children, our friends and neighbors, and people just like you have been on this journey with me.

If you’d like to learn more about what Catholics believe and why, and to be inspired by saints from every era all over the world, you’ve come to the right place. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with the prospect of how to teach your kids about the faith in a way that’s true, engaging, and lasts a lifetime, we can help!
